Thu, Feb 12, 2026, 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM
Zoom link hidden until RSVP

Pauline Witzke (Hons. B. Sc, Earth Sciences, University of Waterloo 1982) is a retired geologist who lives in Belleville, Ontario. Her career included oil and gas exploration, environmental geology, and nuclear power operations.

Pauline compares past geologic global warming events to current global warming, and includes how close we are to the point of no return, when that might happen, and how we can stop it.

Her talk summarizes global warming events from the geologic past:

  • How high atmospheric greenhouse gasses got

  • How much the global average temperature increased

  • How they affected life on earth

  • How long they lasted

  • Why they ended
