From Heat Regulation to Energy Harvesting: SPARK-e's Solid-State PCM Approach’, with Claudia Gómez Aguirre

We are happy to announce our first ever SPARK-e webinar, which will kick off a series of sessions featuring leading experts in energy efficiency, and materials science for electronics.

The webinar will take place on Wednesday, 16 September at 12:00pm (noon) CEST (Brussels), so save the date and come prepared with lots of questions!

In this first session, our colleague and coordinator Claudia Gómez Aguirre, based at the Iberian Centre for Research in Energy Storage (CIIAE), Spain, will talk about SPARK-e's innovative approach:

As electronic devices become smaller, denser and more power-hungry, poor heat dissipation is increasingly limiting their performance and reliability. The webinar will introduce SPARK-e, an EU-funded project exploring solid-to-solid phase change materials (PCMs) as a new approach to thermal management in nanoelectronics.

The webinar will summarise the project's overall objectives and give an overview of the three functional material families under development. This includes materials that absorb heat for temperature regulation, materials that modulate their thermal conductivity to direct heat flow (thermal switching), and pyroelectric materials that convert waste heat into electrical energy (energy harvesting). Our coordinator will highlight the key material properties and design opportunities behind each family.
